Hello, my name is Debi, and I am the visionary for Equine LEAD. My journey with horses began at an early age. Animals, and especially horses, have always been a huge part of my life. My animal companions are my healers, friends, and teachers.
I have been riding since age eight, and have a background in saddle seat, trail riding, western, and some dressage and jumping. Having experience in multiple riding disciplines helps create a well rounded lesson program for riders. I have managed multiple horse boarding facilities throughout the years, was a groom for a well known Standardbred breeding facility, worked for a large farm animal rescue operation, and was a full-time professional pet sitter prior to starting Equine LEAD.
I graduated with an A.A.S. degree in Equine Management from Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois in 2006. From there I received my B.A. in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Equine Assisted Mental Health from Prescott College in Arizona in 2009. By combining my two degrees and expertise, my path lead me to Eponaquest, an internationally recognized equine facilitated experiential learning instructor training program. In April 2013 I graduated from Eponaquest as an Eponaquest Instructor, and now provide innovative ways for everyday living, leadership, and be-ing. The one truth that remains in my life is horses, and the joy of sharing them with others.
